Russell Anderson Foundation to benefit from League Cup victory celebration marking 10th anniversary of 2014 win

Madri Lounge, Pittodrie, Wednesday 20th March, 2024

March marks a decade since Aberdeen lifted the League Cup after "19 years, 120 minutes and then f***ing penalties" at Parkhead to lift the Scottish League Cup and, to mark the occasion, a fun filled event, which includes a two-course dinner, footage from the cup run and a group Q&A with the players, will be held on Wednesday March 20th in the Madri Lounge within Pittodrie Stadium's Richard Donald Suite, attended by the majority of the cup winning squad.

The evening itself will have most of the squad there in attendance and it will be a mixture of footage from the games along with small group Q&A with the players

Skipper Russell Anderson will be there, along with Mark Reynolds, Andrew Considine, Jamie Langfield, Willo Flood, Jonny Hayes, Adam Rooney, Nicky Low, Peter Pawlett, Shay Logan, Niall McGinn, Cammy Smith and assistant manager Tony Docherty.

Commenting on the rationale behind the event, Russell Anderson explained he was contacted by several of his former team-mates. “A number of the squad approached me saying they felt it would be appropriate to mark the occasion and that they felt it was equally appropriate that the Foundation would benefit.

“Several conversations followed and the consensus was that we wanted it priced at a level that would be affordable to the majority of the Red Army, in addition to the corporate market that are so supportive to everything connected with the club.

“We already have a dozen of the squad coming along so it’ll be a fantastic opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with the guys and relive their memories of what was a wonderful occasion and this will perhaps be the only time so many of the players involved ten years ago get together to go down a relatively recent memory lane with the supporters.”

Tables are priced at £600 for a table of 10 or £60 per head, with a two-course meal, including tea and coffee, and a cash bar will be in operation. The dress code for the evening, which gets underway at 7.30 pm, is smart casual and tickets can be booked through the AFC ticket office.

The main sponsor for the event is ACE Forwarding and all monies raised on the evening will go towards the substantial work The Russell Anderson Foundation does to make a measurable and sustainable difference in the health and wellbeing of children in the local community in Aberdeen.

Tables of ten or individual tickets for the event, can be obtained at AFC Website.

Tickets can also be purchased in the Pittodrie Ticket Office, or by phone (01224 631903 – option 2).
