Russell Anderson Foundation

The Russell Anderson Foundation has announced the appointment of experienced HR professional Kim Woolner as Interim CEO.

Over the forthcoming months, Kim will focus on the charity's governance, process improvement and strategic alignment and is very much looking forward to embracing the challenge. "While my background has been predominantly in HR, I have held leadership roles across diverse sectors, including serving as interim CEO for another local charity. My role here will be focused on ensuring stability and structure as we move into the next phase of our development. These are challenging times for all in the third sector and we must ensure we are positioned accordingly.

RAF's people-first values are what drew me in, initially focused on enhancing their HR practices, and then through a deeper understanding of the work being done to support schools in Aberdeen City through wellbeing, inclusion and opportunity."

RAF Chairman Jim Sutherland added. "We are thrilled to welcome Kim on board at what is a critical time for charities everywhere. Her experience will be invaluable over the next period and her knowledge and aspirations complement that of RAF's perfectly."

Formed in 2012, the Russell Anderson Foundation began by delivering free football sessions to children in some of the more socially deprived areas of the city. These days, what RAF does encompasses so much more than just football. The whole ethos of the Foundation is to empower children to make good decisions and give them a chance to reach their potential.

RAF works with over 2000 children on a weekly basis across its partner schools in the city and, although a large part of the work remains focused on health and well-being and being physically active, RAF also works with schools in other areas to improve pupils' attainment levels and help with better outcomes. This includes practical cooking lessons, food support, mentoring programmes, workplace visits and employability opportunities.
