Foundation Appoints First Full Time Fundraiser

Aberdeen based charity the Russell Anderson Foundation (RAF) has appointed its first ever full-time Business Development & Fundraising Manager.

A well-known figure in the sphere of raising monies for charity, Louise Douglas joins RAF after five and a half years with Northsound's Cash For Kids (CFK) and Russell Anderson believes the appointment will take the charity to a new level.

"While we've enjoyed fantastic support from numerous local organisations over the past eleven years, and continue to do so, the cost base for the services that we provide for children throughout the city, is always a challenge that is never going to become easier, and we are really excited to welcome Louise on board.

Through her work with CFK, Louise has built up an extensive network of contacts and I've no doubt whatsoever, she will quickly become an invaluable member of our small team."

Louise is eager to get started in her new role. "I feel so lucky to have been given this opportunity to join RAF. The work they undertake in the area is something I've loved seeing and I'm so excited for the future of, not just RAF, but the young people it supports, it will be an absolute privilege to play a part in this."

"I believe the experience and skills I have gained over the years, along with solid core values and a strong awareness of the real needs and issues within our communities, can help the Foundation to continue to thrive and grow further in a positive direction."
Formed in 2012, the Russell Anderson Foundation began by delivering free football sessions to children in some of the more socially deprived areas of the city.

These days, what RAF does encompasses so much more than just football. The whole ethos of the Foundation is to empower children to make good decisions and give them a chance to reach their potential.

RAF works with over 2000 children on a weekly basis across our 9 partner schools in the city and, although a large part of the work remains focused on health and well-being and being physically active, RAF also works with the schools in other areas to improve attainment levels and help with better outcomes for the pupils.

This includes practical cooking lessons, food support, mentoring programmes, workplace visits and employability opportunities to name some of the programmes RAF is currently delivering.
