Over £100k raised for Russell Anderson Foundation at Masked Ball!

The Russell Anderson Foundation (RAF) is thrilled to confirm that this weekend’s 5th Annual Charity Ball at Aberdeen’s Chester Hotel raised a record breaking £102,287. Founder Russell was left almost lost for words when asked about the event, which was attended by over three hundred guests. “In our wildest dreams, we could not have imagined raising such an incredible amount and it was only possible thanks to the contributions of so many.

“I have to thank our main sponsors Fowler McKenzie, Aberdein Considine Wealth, entertainment sponsors RAM Tubulars and drinks sponsors McIntosh Plant Hire & Heavy Logistics as well as everyone who attended the dinner itself and the organisations that contributed auction items and prizes, in particular Jamieson & Carry for their generous donation of a Tag Heuer watch for the raffle.

“Our compere, the irrepressible Alex Fleming was, as usual, fantastic, as was the entertainment provided by Waterfront, The Soul Kings and Paul Black.

“The Chester Hotel looked after us superbly, as they always do, Imajica Brand Evolution played a big part in preparing the powerful visuals for the event, which were thought provoking to say the least.

“Last but not least, I would recognise the contribution of the RAF staff and trustees for the work they do, with a special mention to Graeme Burnett and Louise Douglas. We have certainly set a high bar for next year, that’s for sure!”

Formed in 2012, the Russell Anderson Foundation began by delivering free football sessions to children in some of the more socially deprived areas of the city. These days, what RAF does encompasses so much more than just football. The whole ethos of the Foundation is to empower children to make good decisions and give them a chance to reach their potential. RAF works with over 2000 children on a weekly basis across our 12 partner schools in the city and, although a large part of the work remains focused on health and well-being and being physically active, RAF also works with the schools in other areas to improve attainment levels and help with better outcomes for the pupils. This includes practical cooking lessons, food support, mentoring programmes, workplace visits and employability opportunities to name some of the programmes RAF is currently delivering. Funds raised at Friday’s Ball will allow RAF to support hundreds of additional children and their families, providing them with significant positive lifestyle changes.
